Y8 Power Project
The Y8 Power Project has recently been updated to include Food Science and activities related to the 'Eatwell Guide'. This will better prepare students with the skills needed to complete the current KS4 Food courses.
Each ‘Power Project’ contains a Scheme of Work, Lesson Plans, Assessment Sheets, Differentiated Worksheets and Fun Activities. Here you will find the complete package in order to teach Food Technology powerfully and successfully. The image below shows a small sample from the Y8 Power Project.
This pack has been produced to meet the requirements of the new national curriculum and implement effective assessment, without the use of levels in Cookery and Nutrition. The Y8 Power Project reinforces and develops the skills taught in Y7. The theme is 'Healthier Mini Party Snacks'. The pupils will research and practice ways of presenting their food products creatively, adapt recipes and develop the nutritional content of their party snacks. The final design and make task involves the production of 'healthier mini party snacks' which must meet the Reference Intakes (RIs) of children.
These resources have been created to save the teacher time, by ensuring that all the necessary paperwork is at hand. This pack provides a wealth of ideas and exciting lessons that stimulate learners and helps to improve the standard of teaching and learning. Literacy and Numeracy have also been successfully implemented into every lesson through the use of 'Power Word' and 'Power Numbers'.
